Wolf Kill on the Frozen Lake

Remains of the carcass feeding the scavengers.
From a distance.
A closer look indicates a Wolf kill of a young bull Elk.

Antler sticking up, Hooves to the right.

Bald Eagle arrives and scatters the ravens

and leaves

The following day finds the carcass has been moved a hundred meters or so during the night. Presumably by same wolves.

Where it happened

Picking at the leftovers

And now for something completely different

Crossbills. I am told they are not a very common site in these here parts. First ones I have ever seen.

Friendly Ravens
Or maybe not so much?
