Then a Porcupine hiding in a Pine Tree. From directly under neath.
then, after scrambling up the slope, seen (sort of) from the side. Before we spotted it we could hear a gawdawfull squealing and screeching wich helped us find it.
I am guessing it was a "Love" call. Either that or it sat upon one of its own quills.
Another day another Bittern. Pictures taken along the Mississagi Bay Road.
Further along same route, a Kestrel.
Next stop was the road to Mississagi Delta. Where this Groundhog was sitting on the road. It appeared to be disoriented as it was faced with a canal on one side of the road and swampland on the other. It is a dry land beast and actually not all that common in this area.
Then it stood up as we got closer
and started trotting towards us???When I got out of the car to take another, closer picture it realized it wanted nothing to do with us and beat a retreat into the grass and disappeared
Next: a Mourning Cloak Butterfly.and another Red Admiral, which kept pestering the bigger butterfly.
