Also, same time, this modern day dinosaur was struggling down the rocks of the beaver dam spillway. Poor choice of path.
This next picture is of a lone Female Golden-eye. No others were in sight but it was continually quacking for the 20 minutes or so as I watched. Looking for mate or missing offspring?
and for good measure, updating one of the Sanctuary's Mallard family progress.
