Both chicks appeared healthy in this shot the previous afternoon

But by the following morning one chick seemed to be ill and remained under the parent's wing, not feeding

 That evening one chick had died. Then overnight something happened to chick #2.           Parents had returned together and looked for but did not find it and so they abandoned the search and left.
