Weekend of 25-26 Apr. Ruffed Grouse,Loons & Elk

Pair of Loons on Dennison TMA Saturday morning.
And another pair on Gander Lake in the evening.

Then we have a Male Ruffed Grouse displaying in an attempt to entaice a hen across the road. She ain't having any of it. And he leaves unfulfilled.

Then Sunday evening just after 6. A small herd of 7 Elk. at least 3 sporting radio collars.
They were content to just stand and watch me as long as I stayed where I was. But when I started moving closer they moved away keeping the same distance between us. The first picture shows 5 of the 7 with the other  2 out of the frame.

Some were grazing unconcernedly

While others watched me.
Note the collar.

Then when they had had enough of me they assembled and prepared to move off.

Jail Break! on Friday 23 April (RACCOONS)

With their black masks giving them a Bandit look they were aided and abetted in their escape by the Friends Of Algoma.
Having been orphaned last year and sheltered at/in Wild at Heart in Lively they were deemd to be ready now to fend for themselves. Unknown whether they were siblings or not.
Release went smoothly with one raccoon heading off into the bush forthwith and the second seeming to be reluctant to leave.

Mission accomplished.
