More Waterfowl

The first wave of migrants appear to have left, except for a few stragglers. The main bunch yet to come but over the next few weeks I should be able to increase my collection. Particularly after the local lake become completely ice free

This is a Bufflehead Duck, Once again on the Serpent River.

And another Common Goldeneye

Here we have a pair of Canada Geese looking for a nesting site (I think)..

I call this group BFF.
Canada Goose and a Common Goldeneye couple.

Routine they go through for the purpose of the female choosing a mate.

All gather round for displaying.
This is the Prize.

Next series of pictures shows dominant male chasing off rivals.

Then ......THE WINNER IS:
as they fly off to look for a home. Followed by the wedding party.

Wood duck Collection (click on any photo to enlarge)

Our most colourful waterfowl. Their numbers have been increasing over the past number of years. Helped in no small part by the provision on nesting boxes. A project of, among others, Friends of Algoma.
